Volvo has unveiled the brand new Concept C Coupe, the first of three cars that plan to rewrite the brand’s design alphabet in the years to come.
The new Volvo Concept C Coupe is a powerful two-litre petrol and electric hybrid Volvo that is set to be fully unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September and is clearly inspired by the classic old P1800, driven by Roger Moore in The Saint back in the 1960s.
“The last few years car design has become increasingly standardized and streamlined, and too often defined by cluttered and overly complex design. While other brands try too hard to look luxurious and muscular, Volvo Cars will stand out as the calm, confident and naturally powerful challenger. We have no ambition to blend in, and the Volvo Concept Coupe efficiently manifests how iconic design will reinforce Volvo’s identity”, says Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo’s new Senior Vice President of Design. “The Volvo Concept Coupe is no futuristic dream car. It is designed to demonstrate the capability of our new architecture: the confident stance, the proportions and the most prominent design signatures”, he continues.
Well, there is really not much more to say about this sleek two-door coupe, other than the fact that under the styling, there’s a 400bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine with a turbo and supercharger driving the front axle, while the rear end has its own electric motor.
