During the Art Basel Miami, Cassina and Louis Vuitton are presenting a limited edition of the brand new LC4 chaise lounge. In loving memory of the 110th anniversary of French designer Charlotte Perriand’s birth, naturally.
This classic LC4 chaise lounge was inspired by a then controversial photo of Charlotte Perriand, relaxing on one of the first models of the chaise (by Monsieur Le Corbusier) with a self-supporting mattress attached directly to the frame.
Now, using Louis Vuitton’s unique and incomparable expertise in saddlery craftsmanship, the LC4 CP Tribute Edition is made accordingly, in a very light pink natural saddle-leather with a contrasting dark saddle-leather for the foot- and headrest, all supplied directly by Louis Vuitton tannery.
Do note though that 1000 pieces will be made and their official presentation is on December 5th at the Cassina showroom in Miami during the Art Basel Miami. This specific LC4 will be then shown alongside a collection of Charlotte Perriand‘s photography and furniture designs that are produced exclusively by Cassina.
If around, do not miss it. This is history in the making.
Remember: The original LC furniture range by Le Corbusier, was a system of furniture co-designed with his cousins Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand back in 1928. Among them, the famous LC4 chaise, which still is in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Cassina is the only company with exclusive international rights to reproduce Le Corbusier furniture, in accordance with Fondazione Le Corbusier and the heirs of the co-designers that, since 1964, have chosen Cassina as their exclusive spokesperson.
