Opposites attract? May well be. Because even Hermès and Hyundai join forces. The French luxury retailer partnered with the Korean car manufacturing giant to put together a limited edition of their Equus Concept.
Hyundai (who has made a name for itself with affordable cars offering superior fuel efficiency)has really made an effort to step up, and for 2013 their flagship model gets partnered with an unlikely fashion house in the Limited Edition Hermes x Hyundai Equus Concept. The Korean car manufacturer has been outfitted with materials that would typically be used by the French luxury retailer for their high end hand bags (more than 20 individual custom-built components from Hermès). Premium leathers and crocodile skin have been used throughout the vehicle’s interior, making for a beautiful four-door limousine. An extended wheelbase accommodates luxury features ranging from a folding table to an oversized storage compartment, as well as a rear center console, modelled after aircraft interiors.
Although this is nothing more than a concept at the time, the four door limousine did receive some solid feedback during its debut at this year’s Seoul Auto Show. If the Equus Concept car ever did hit the market though, expect a price tag well north of $100,000.
