Patricia Urquiola travelled to India to work alongside men and women accomplished in traditional methods of embroidery – for her latest project “Homemade” rugs and furniture, designed for Gandiablasco.
“This collection consists of juxtapositions, usability and presentation of interchangeable embroidered bands like an innovative idea“, says Patricia Urquiola.
The Spanish designer went to a small village of South Asia, where there are high rates of unemployment, but well-skilled crafts people to realize “Bandas” (bands), a collection of seating consisting of armchairs, chaise lounges, cushions and poufs; and soft flooring solutions, rendered using the long-established practice of needlework.
