Teaming up with a Dutch company called Quintessence Yacht, Aston Martin is building a new 37-foot boat, the AM37.
“We need to open our world to water,” said Aston Martin design director Marek Reichman. The AM37 yacht, previewed in digital renderings, will enter production later this year.
This Aston Martin newbie promises to be a lightweight luxury vessel with world-class handling, performance, and comfort. No firm word yet on the power specs, but we do know there will be two versions: the AM37 S (top speed of 60 knots/70 mph) and the more luxury-centered AM37 (top speed of 50 knots/57 mph). Do note this: the sportier AM37 S will be eminently suitable for chase scenes in James Bond movies.
“It takes inspiration from [car] models the world hasn’t seen yet,” Reichman says of the yacht. “That’s one of the reasons why this boat will have such longevity.”
When the AM37 is launched on water at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, it will be the first of several crafts in the Aston Martin powerboat range, according to Mariella Mengozzi, chief executive of Quintessence Yachts, the Dutch manufacturer building the boats.
